Pregnancy  Massage

Pregnancy is a very special time however it can put a big strain on a mother’s body and many physiological changes occur as the uterus grows. This shift can put extra pressure on joints and muscles, particularly in the later stages. Massage can help to ease this tension and relieve some of the aches and pains that may be experienced along with improving circulation and releasing the ‘feel good’ hormones, oxytocin and prolactin.

Pregnancy can cause some anxiety and apprehension and a massage helps to give the mother time to focus on herself whilst promoting relaxation in preparation for the birth.  We recognise that each pregnancy and mother is unique and will spend time with you to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible whilst ensuring a safe and effective treatment for mum and baby.

Please be aware that a pregnancy massage can only be performed after the first trimester and a detailed consultation will take place beforehand. In some cases, we may need a doctors note to confirm it is safe to receive a massage. Your therapist will advise discuss with you when you book your appointment and support you in this.
